MOWA, UNFPA Organises Capacity Building on GBVCIMS for Staff and Frontline Responders

The Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs in collaboration with United Nations Population Funds (UNFPA) has organised a three-day capacity building on Gender Based Violence Case Information Management System (GBVCIMS) for staff and frontline responders.

Speaking at 3-day programme on Tuesday at the Olufolake Women ICT Centre, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ilorin, the Commissioner, Chief ( Mrs) Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, noted that the training is significant and timely because it brings together staff and frontliners who play crucial role in the prevention, management, documentation, referral and timely response to cases of GBV in the state.

The Commissioner stated that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration recognizes that well-trained and properly equipped personnel are essential to delivering responsive, efficient and people-centered services, reiterating the need to provide the  staff and frontline responders with the necessary skills and tools for quality service delivery.

Chief Afolashade further explained that the effective use of GBVCIMS will strengthen the ability of the Ministry to properly document cases, facilitate referrals, monitor interventions and generate reliable data for evidence based planning and decision making.

The Commissioner commended UNFPA for providing the resources and supporting the state in strengthening systems for effective management of GBV cases, acknowledging Royal Heritage Health Foundation (RHHF) for providing technical support for the workshop.

The Program Officer, UNFPA, Miss Olayinka Adedayo, admonished participants to participate actively as the workshop will provide them with the capability to manage GBV cases effectively and improve their skills.

The Consultant, Mrs Omoshola Durowaye, took participants through Guiding Principles on GBV, Use of Survival Centered Approach, Introduction of Kobo Tool Box, Case Management and Information Management.

Kwara, WHO Develop Costed Health Promotion Strategic Framework

The Kwara State Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has commenced a three-day workshop to develop the State Health Promotion Strategic Framework Costed Implementation Plan aimed at strengthening health promotion interventions and improving public health outcomes across the state.
