Kwara-SAPZ Coordinator Hosts Agbeloba Farmers’ Cooperative.

The Kwara State Project Coordinator of the State Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Project, Engr. Dr Busari Toyin Isiaka, today hosted the Agbeloba Omodara Farmers’ Cooperative to explore opportunities for the association’s participation in the implementation of the project.

Held at the Coordinator’s office, the meeting provided an avenue for the farmers’ cooperative to gain a better understanding of the objectives and opportunities available under the Kwara SAPZ Project.

Speaking during the engagement, the State Project Coordinator explained that the Kwara SAPZ Project is livestock-based, with locations across five Local Government Areas in the state.

He added that the project was designed to strengthen agricultural value chains by connecting farmers to agro-processing facilities, markets, infrastructure and other necessary support to improve productivity and enhance the livelihoods of stakeholders.

He stressed the importance of farmers’ organisations to the successful implementation of the project, noting that organised farmers have a critical role to play and would, in turn, be able to take advantage of the opportunities available under the project.

He noted that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had made significant contributions to agricultural development and other sectors, adding that history would continue to recall the unprecedented prosperity the Governor had brought to farmers across the state.

Dr Busari revealed that the Kwara SAPZ Project had organised a series of impactful training programmes for farmers across the state.

The Coordinator further assured the farmers’ cooperative of the support of the present administration at every point of intervention.

Earlier, the Chairman of Agbeloba Omodara Farmers’ Cooperative, Mallam Naallah Aliyu Tunde, expressed appreciation to the State Government and the State Project Coordinator for the opportunity to engage with the project and gain information on how the association could participate in and benefit from the initiative.

He explained that Agbeloba Omodara Farmers’ Cooperative is based in the Idi-Igba area of Ilorin, the state capital, and has more than 150 livestock and crop farmers.

He said members were resolute in utilising the knowledge they had acquired during the numerous agriculture-related workshops organised by the State Government.

Accompanying the Chairman to the Kwara-SAPZ Coordination Office were the Secretary of the association, Mal. Salman Kamaldeen; Mrs Kafayat Akeem; Mrs Mistura Azeez; Mrs Modinat Isiaq; Mrs Nike Isiaka; Mal. Aliyu Ismail; Mal. Hanafi Abdulganiy; and Mrs Kudirat Abdulganiy.

Kwara, WHO Develop Costed Health Promotion Strategic Framework

The Kwara State Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has commenced a three-day workshop to develop the State Health Promotion Strategic Framework Costed Implementation Plan aimed at strengthening health promotion interventions and improving public health outcomes across the state.
