MSI Nigeria Holds 2026/2027 Mobile Outreach Scheduling Meeting

Kwara State Government has  continued to record remarkable progress in the implementation of family planning programmes through sustained government investment, strategic partnerships and strengthened service delivery mechanisms aimed at improving reproductive health outcomes across the state.

The progress was highlighted during the Family Planning Mobile Outreach Scheduling Meeting for the 2026/2027 implementation year convened by MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices in Ilorin.

 Stakeholders at the meeting reviewed achievements, assessed implementation strategies and mapped out plans to expand access to quality family planning services for women and families across Kwara State.

Speaking at the meeting, the State Family Planning Coordinator, Hajia Bashirat Jatto, outlined some key achievements recorded by the state government in the family planning programme, including the establishment of a budget line for the procurement of family planning commodities 

She added that the Government has consistently released funds for the last-mile distribution of family planning commodities.

According to her, another major milestone achieved by the state is the training of  healthcare workers on the Hormonal Intrauterine Device (Hormonal-IUD), thereby expanding the range of family planning options available to women across the state.

Hajia Jatto appreciated the State Government for its unwavering support to the health sector, particularly in strengthening reproductive health services and improving access to family planning interventions.

Also speaking, the State Health Promotion Officer, Mallam Jubril Abdulkarim, commended MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices for its invaluable support to the state. 

He noted that the state interventions had made positive impact on Sexual and Reproductive Health services, contributing greatly to improved health outcomes across Kwara State.

In her remarks, the Acting Regional Manager, Southwest, MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices, Mrs. Bolaji Akinsola, appreciated the participants and emphasized the importance of evidence-based planning in ensuring that family planning services reach women and communities with the greatest need.

The Regional Marketing and Communication Advisor, Mrs. Oyeronke Oyenusi, explained that the meeting was aimed at providing updates on the 2025 implementation strategies, successes, challenges and best practices.

She added that the meeting was also meant to develop projections for the 2026 implementation year, identify, profile and select sites for the 2026/2027 implementation year.

She further emphasized that the engagement sought to strengthen sustainable community mobilization mechanisms to ease operations and agree on measures for stakeholder engagement and terrain-related challenges.

Oyenusi therefore, encouraged participants to actively contribute to discussions and ensure that the site selection process reflects local realities and programme priorities.

During the meeting, the participants reviewed key criteria for selecting primary service sites, including health facility capacity, availability of trained providers, accessibility of communities, estimated population of women of reproductive age and opportunities to strengthen family planning service delivery.

It also provided a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, identify challenges and recommend practical strategies to improve programme implementation across the state.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to guide the strategic deployment of family planning services across Kwara State, contributing to improved reproductive health outcomes and supporting the state's efforts towards achieving universal access to quality family planning services.

LG COMMISSIONER APPLAUDS OFFA COUNCIL OVER PROJECT EXECUTIONS

The Kwara State Government has applauded the Offa Local Government Council over the execution of projects that positively impact the lives of people in the Council. Ministry of Social Development, KW-IRS Conduct Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement on Creche Registration Compliance

The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), has conducted a two-day Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement Exercise on Crèche Registration Compliance across the Ilorin metropolis. The exercise, which took place from June 23 to 24, 2026, was aimed at ensuring compliance with crèche registration requirements among schools and childcare centres providing services for children between the ages of 0 and 6 years.
