KWSG Receives Commendation from NEC Implementation Monitoring Committee for Project Execution

The Kwara State Government has received commendation from the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) from the National Economic Council (NEC) for successful implementation of ongoing government projects across the state, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and effective budget execution.

The Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Ronke Arinde, disclosed this on Friday during a meeting held with the Implementation Monitoring Committee from the NEC at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Finance, Ilorin.

Dr. Arinde stated that the favourable report reflects the state government's unwavering commitment to due process in project implementation and strict adherence to established policies and budgetary guidelines.

According to her, the administration of the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, has continued to operate a transparent and accountable budget system that ensures projects are effectively monitored from conception to completion, guaranteeing value for public funds and improved service delivery to the people of the state.

She noted that the government's people-oriented approach to governance has significantly enhanced project execution across critical sectors, saying this has led to sustainable development and improved socio-economic outcomes.

The Commissioner appreciated the Committee for its professionalism, diligence and objective assessment of the projects executed by state governments across the federation, describing the monitoring exercise as an important mechanism for promoting accountability, transparency and improved performance in public service.

Speaking earlier, the Team Lead of the Implementation Monitoring Committee, NEC, Prof. Andohol Jerome, praised the Kwara State Government for its transparent budget implementation process and unwavering commitment to delivering impactful projects that directly improve the lives of citizens.

Prof. Jerome remarked that Kwara State distinguished itself among the states visited so far, noting the impressive level of project implementation, proper documentation and adherence to approved budgetary procedures.

He further applauded Governor AbdulRazaq for providing an enabling environment and warm reception that facilitated the successful conduct of the monitoring exercise, adding that the administration's commitment to good governance and prudent management of public resources is evident in the quality of projects executed across the State.

The visit by the Implementation Monitoring Committee forms part of its nationwide assessment aimed at evaluating the implementation of government projects, promoting accountability and ensuring that public funds are effectively utilized for the benefit of citizens.
