KWSG Calls for Collaboration with Hotel Owners as Board Takes Charge of Hospitality Sector

The Kwara State Government has called for stronger collaboration, strategic partnership, and total cooperation with the Kwara State Association of Hotel Owners, (AHO), as the Kwara State Hospitality and Tourism Development Board officially assumes full responsibility for the hospitality sector in the state.

The Secretary, Kwara State Hospitality and Tourism Development Board, Mrs. Adenike Ramat Akanni, made the call during a familiarization meeting with the Association of Hotel Owners, Kwara State chapter, held in her office on the ground floor of the Kwara State Ministry of Communications.

Mrs. Akanni explained that, with the Board now fully in charge of the hospitality in the state, collaboration with stakeholders, particularly hotel owners, is crucial to achieving the government's vision for a vibrant and sustainable growth in the sector.

The Secretary disclosed that the Board would embark on periodic inspections across the state to ensure  prompt registration of new hotels and verify the payment of harmonized bills issued by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS). 

She added that the exercise would further ensure that hotel operators complied with the established rules, regulations, and operational standards set by the government.

She  also stressed the need for all stakeholders to work together under one umbrella, explaining that a united hospitality industry would enhance collaboration, improve compliance with regulatory standards, and promote the sustainable growth of the sector.

Mrs. Akanni, therefore,  expressed her sincere appreciation to the Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, for her unwavering support and commitment to the growth and development of the hospitality and tourism sector in the State.

The President, Association of Hotel Owners, Kwara State, Mr. Amos Ajanaku, expressed appreciation to the Kwara State Government for providing an enabling environment for hotel operators to conduct their businesses.

Mr. Ajanaku also pledged the full support and cooperation of members with the Kwara State Hospitality and Tourism Development Board in achieving its mandate.

He emphasized the need to foster genuine unity among all hotel owners in the state, explaining that a united front would contribute significantly to the growth and development of the hospitality industry.

He therefore, appealed to the Kwara State Government to give out soft loans to hotel operators to assist them in improving and expanding their businesses. 

He assured government that such loans, if granted, would be utilized judiciously and repaid promptly in accordance with the agreed terms.

LG COMMISSIONER APPLAUDS OFFA COUNCIL OVER PROJECT EXECUTIONS

The Kwara State Government has applauded the Offa Local Government Council over the execution of projects that positively impact the lives of people in the Council. Ministry of Social Development, KW-IRS Conduct Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement on Creche Registration Compliance

The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), has conducted a two-day Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement Exercise on Crèche Registration Compliance across the Ilorin metropolis. The exercise, which took place from June 23 to 24, 2026, was aimed at ensuring compliance with crèche registration requirements among schools and childcare centres providing services for children between the ages of 0 and 6 years.
