KWEPA, NOSDRA Partnered to Advance Environmental Sustainability in Kwara- KWEPA Boss

The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering stronger collaboration with key environmental institutions as it hosted the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Kwara Zonal Office, on a courtesy visit.

The engagement is aimed at deepening inter-agency synergy and promoting environmental sustainability across the state.

The meeting, held at KWEPA’s headquarters in Ilorin, brought together the leadership of both agencies to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore practical strategies for enhancing cooperation in addressing environmental challenges in Kwara State.

The NOSDRA delegation, led by the Kwara Zonal Head, Mr. Ogun Williams, was warmly received by the General Manager of KWEPA, Hon. Jide Aina, who expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to working closely with sister organisations in safeguarding the environment.

Hon.. Aina emphasized that effective collaboration, strategic partnerships and timely exchange of information and idea are critical to achieving a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment.

He noted that environmental protection is a shared responsibility that requires collective commitment of government institutions, development partners, stakeholders and the public.

The General Manager further assured the delegation of the Agency's continued support for initiatives that strengthen institutional capacity and enhance the delivery of environmental services across the state.

Speaking during the visit, the NOSDRA Kwara Zonal Head, Mr. Ogun Williams, underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between both agencies in protecting the environment. 

He announced that NOSDRA would organise a capacity-building training programme for KWEPA staff to strengthen their expertise in oil spill detection, emergency response and environmental management.

According to him, the training initiative is designed to enhance the technical capacity of KWEPA personnel and further reinforce the existing partnership between the two agencies, enabling them to respond more effectively to environmental emergencies and emerging ecological challenges.

The meeting concluded with both agencies reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration through synergy, strategic partnership and coordinated action to advance environmental sustainability and protect the environment across Kwara State. 

The visit also highlighted their collective resolve to build resilient institutions capable of delivering lasting environmental benefits for present and future generations.

LG COMMISSIONER APPLAUDS OFFA COUNCIL OVER PROJECT EXECUTIONS

The Kwara State Government has applauded the Offa Local Government Council over the execution of projects that positively impact the lives of people in the Council. Ministry of Social Development, KW-IRS Conduct Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement on Creche Registration Compliance

The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), has conducted a two-day Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement Exercise on Crèche Registration Compliance across the Ilorin metropolis. The exercise, which took place from June 23 to 24, 2026, was aimed at ensuring compliance with crèche registration requirements among schools and childcare centres providing services for children between the ages of 0 and 6 years.
