Kwara Upgrades Infrastructure at Baboko Community Secondary School, Hands Over Facilities

The Kwara State Government has handed over the newly constructed and renovated educational facilities worth millions of naira to Baboko Community Secondary School, Ilorin, reinforcing its commitment to improving learning infrastructure across public schools.

Speaking during the handover ceremony on Monday, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, described the intervention as another demonstration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's unwavering commitment to quality education and human capital development.

The intervention included four renovated classroom blocks, a remodelled five-classroom block, four upgraded laboratory blocks with equipment, offices and stores alongside renovated toilet facilities designed to improve teaching, learning and students' welfare.
Dr. Olohungbebe urged the school management, teachers, students and the host community to protect the facilities, noting that the state government’s investments can only deliver lasting value through collective ownership and proper maintenance.

"The government has fulfilled its responsibility by providing these facilities. It is now our collective duty to preserve them and ensure future generations benefit from this investment," the Commissioner said.

He commended the Governor for sustaining investments in educational infrastructure, while acknowledging teachers for their resilience and dedication towards improving learning outcomes across the state's public schools.

The President of the Baboko Ward Development Association, Mallam Abdullahi Toyin, assured that the community would take ownership of the facilities, reinforcing that the residents would work with the school to safeguard the investment.

A community leader and retired Permanent Secretary, Mallam Nuhu Mogaji, described the intervention as a turning point for the school, affirming that the upgraded facilities would restore parents' confidence and provide a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.

Representing the school's Alumni Association, Dr. Oniye Ridwanullahi, said the transformation had rekindled hope among former students, adding that the association looked forward to complementing the government's efforts in the school.

The Principals of the Senior and Junior Secondary Schools, Alhaja Omolola Afusat Lawal and Mallam Kure Issa Iyanda, said the intervention is timely, stating that improved classrooms and laboratories would significantly enhance teaching and learning.

Some students, including Master Ayantola Benjamin, Miss Karatu Aminat and Miss Surajudeen Alimat, also expressed excitement over the upgraded facilities, saying the improved learning environment would motivate them to study harder and excel academically.

Ministry of Social Development, KW-IRS Conduct Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement on Creche Registration Compliance

The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), has conducted a two-day Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement Exercise on Crèche Registration Compliance across the Ilorin metropolis. The exercise, which took place from June 23 to 24, 2026, was aimed at ensuring compliance with crèche registration requirements among schools and childcare centres providing services for children between the ages of 0 and 6 years.
