Kwara Distributes Learning Materials to 127 TVET Students

The Kwara State Government has distributed learning materials to one hundred and twenty-seven (127) newly admitted students of Government Technical College, Ilorin for 2025/2026 academic session, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education across the state.

The intervention was funded by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.

The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, stated this on Tuesday during the distribution ceremony in Ilorin, disclosing that the intervention reflected Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's commitment to developing skilled manpower through sustained investment in technical and vocational education,

Dr. Olohungbebe, who was represented by the Director, Human Capital Development, Victoria  Ajide, said the materials would improve learning, support practical training as well as prepare students with skills required for employment, entrepreneurship and national development.

The Principal of the College, Mr Sulaiman Abdulrafiu, described the intervention as the first of its kind in the institution and a major boost to teaching and thanked the Governor for facilitating the programme, while commending the federal government for supporting technical education in Kwara State.

Speaking for parents, Mallam Hadi Asileke, described the intervention as timely and beneficial to students pursuing technical and vocational education.

He urged beneficiaries to use the materials responsibly and appealed for improved workshops, classrooms and modern equipment to strengthen practical training.

Each beneficiary received uniforms, workshop kits, identity cards, textbooks, exercise books, drawing materials, calculators, mathematical sets and refunded Parent Teacher Association charges.

Education officials, parents, community leaders, teachers and students attended the ceremony, reaffirming shared commitment to expanding access to quality technical and vocational education in Kwara.

LG COMMISSIONER APPLAUDS OFFA COUNCIL OVER PROJECT EXECUTIONS

The Kwara State Government has applauded the Offa Local Government Council over the execution of projects that positively impact the lives of people in the Council. Ministry of Social Development, KW-IRS Conduct Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement on Creche Registration Compliance

The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), has conducted a two-day Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement Exercise on Crèche Registration Compliance across the Ilorin metropolis. The exercise, which took place from June 23 to 24, 2026, was aimed at ensuring compliance with crèche registration requirements among schools and childcare centres providing services for children between the ages of 0 and 6 years. Speaking on the exercise, the Honourable Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, stated that all operators of crèche facilities are required to register with the Ministry and renew their registration annually in accordance with the regulations.
