KWPPA Trains KWASUED Staff on Public Procurement Best Practices

The Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KWPPA) has organized a one-day training on public procurement processes, rules, regulations and procedures for the management and staff of Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED), Ilorin.

Speaking at the opening of the training, the General Manager of KWPPA, QS Raheem Abdulbaki, appreciated the University management for providing a platform to strengthen procurement knowledge and promote best practices within the institution.

Abdulbaki described public procurement as a critical component of governance and public administration, stressing the need for transparency, accountability, fairness and value for money in the management of public resources.

He noted that the training was aimed at enhancing participants' understanding of procurement planning, budgeting, tendering procedures, bid evaluation, contract management and compliance with the State Public Procurement Law and Guidelines.

The General Manager urged officers involved in procurement-related activities to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, adding that continuous capacity building remains essential for effective service delivery and institutional growth.

In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor of KWASUED, Professor Medinat Folorunsho Salman, commended KWPPA for its continued support and collaboration with the University, noting that the training would further strengthen compliance with procurement procedures and best practices.

The training featured paper presentations on public procurement law and guidelines, procurement planning and budgeting, procurement processes for goods, works and services, as well as post-contract administration and implementation.

Ministry of Social Development, KW-IRS Conduct Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement on Creche Registration Compliance

The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), has conducted a two-day Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement Exercise on Crèche Registration Compliance across the Ilorin metropolis. The exercise, which took place from June 23 to 24, 2026, was aimed at ensuring compliance with crèche registration requirements among schools and childcare centres providing services for children between the ages of 0 and 6 years. Speaking on the exercise, the Honourable Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, stated that all operators of crèche facilities are required to register with the Ministry and renew their registration annually in accordance with the regulations. IVTEC-KWSG Empowers Youths Under the 2024/2025 Employment Generation Scheme

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College, (IVTEC), Ajase Ipo, has  commenced batch 8 of the year 2024/2025 admission of Youths Empowerment and Employment Generation Scheme.  The Rector of the College, Engr. (Dr.) Yaru Salihu stated this in Ajase Ipo today in a press statement issued from his office. According to the Rector, the programme which is being sponsored by the Kwara State Government is aimed at promoting a viable and skills acquisition training, to increase the effectiveness of government efforts at combating poverty and youth unemployment.
