Kwara College of Health Technology, Offa Receives Two Awards at ODORBN Eyeball Summit
Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa has made a remarkable achievement by receiving two prestigious awards through the Department of Dispensing Opticianry, which was adjudged 'The Best Training Institution in Dispensing Opticianry in Nigeria' while one of the department staff, Chief Optician AbdulFatai Akanbi, was honored as 'The Best Educator in Dispensing Opticianry.’
The awards were presented recently at this year's maiden edition of the Eyeball Summit, which was organised by the Optometrist and Dispensing Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN), held at Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
Presenting the awards to the Acting Provost of the College, Alhaji Jimoh Ibrahim, the Head of Department of Dispensing Opticianry, Optician Ibrahim Moshood, said the awards were based on the outstanding performance of the College.
Receiving the two awards on behalf of the College and Management of the School, the Acting Provost, Alhaji Jimoh Ibrahim, also described the two awards conferred on the school as a signal for a renewed hope and a remarkable achievement for the institution.
Alhaji Ibrahim reiterated that the School Management decided to dedicate the awards to the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his visionary leadership and his unwavering commitments for educational development in the State, particularly, the health sector, saying the Governor deserves a great commendation.
The Ag. Provost thanked the Governor for the support to the College, promising that the management and students of the College will continue to focus more attention on their educational pursuits with a view of producing quality opticianry and other health personnels in the country.
Meanwhile, the Department of Dispensing Opticianry Training was also adjudged as the Best Training Institution in dispensing Opticianry professionals.
In his speech, the Chief Optician of the college, Optician Olufemi Akanbi, who was also conferred as the Best Educator in Dispensing Opticionary Training, appreciated the kind gesture and promised to continue to put in his best, dedicate more energy to training and continue to impact knowledge to the young generation of professionals.
