KWSG MEETS 16 HEALTH HODs, DISTRIBUTES LAPTOPS TO 16 MONITORING AND EVALUATION LGA OFFICERS

The Kwara State Government, through the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency in collaboration with the World Bank IMPACT PROJECT recently held a quarterly meeting with all the 16 Heads of Departments (HODs) of Health and distributed Laptops to all the 16 Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) Local Government Area Officers in the state for efficient health care delivery.

While speaking at Peace Hotel, Tanke in Ilorin, the Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Nusirat Elelu, described the quarterly meeting as a means of orienting new HODs, harvesting updates from LGAs primary health care activities, identifying challenges and proffering solutions to the identified problems, stressing the need for M & E Officers to possess the necessary tools to enhance service delivery.

Dr. Elelu congratulated the HODs and Partners for their proactiveness and success on the recently concluded Polio Outbreak Response Campaign where the performances of all LGAs in Kwara were highlighted in green as a result of the team work and dedication of all health workers in the state. 

Dr. Elelu emphasised on the need for an effective and supportive supervisory plan by the LGAs' team, urging the HODs to ensure that their impact is felt as a team.

She added that LGAs such as Moro, Asa, Baruten and Kaiama should intensify their support for the nutrition department and programmes.

The Executive Secretary charged the HODs and other health workers to ensure that the state health indices are improved before the next campaign, especially, now that the state will soon commence the introduction of Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine into its routine immunization to prevent girls between the ages of nine years to fourteen years from contracting cervical cancer. 

Dr. Elelu appreciated all the Monitoring and Evaluation Officers in the state for a job well done during previous immunization campaigns, commending them for ensuring that quality data are provided at all time. 

In his presentation, the Director of Primary Health Care Development Agency who doubles as the Program Manager of the World Bank IMPACT Project, Dr.Micheal Oguntoye, noted that the Ward Health system was introduced in 2021 by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency to enhance community Mobilization for health, thereby, revitalizing the primary health care system.

The World Impact project Manager charged the HODs to promote active community participation at the grassroots for sustained effective and efficient service delivery of primary health care activities as being set aside by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency. 

In his goodwill message, the State Coordinator of World Health Organization, Dr. Emmanuel Eyitayo, commended the Executive Secretary for being proactive and supportive, adding that he is happy to be in Kwara State and he prayed for a continuous success in all PHC activities. 

Speaking on behalf of all HODs and M & E Officers, the Chairperson of all HODs, Hajia Kikelomo Ajibola, appreciated the management of the Agency and the State government for the exemplary leadership and ensuring that Officers possess all necessary tools that will enhance their data quality and productivity.
