KWSG Vows Commitments to Culture and Tourism

Kwara state Government has again vowed its commitment to Gaani Festival which is described as another way of showcasing the government's steadfast dedication to foster culture and tourism in the State.

The State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, said this over the weekend, during year 2023 Gaani Festival, held at Okuta community, in Baruten Local Government Area of the state.

Olukoju stressed further that, Gaani Festival is an annual cultural extravaganza that brings together the Bartonum people from the old Borgu empire, spanning Kwara (Baruten and Kaiama), Niger State, and even Republic of Benin.

According to her, "A blend of festivities, showcasing traditional horse riding and mesmerizing cultural displays is the heart of the Gaani Festival"

Olukoju who was elated to have participated at the festival, emphasized government's commitment to safeguard and promote the state's rich cultural heritage, adding values to the cultural heritage of the people.

"We are a people of deep-rooted culture and heritage. It's our responsibility to protect and preserve our cultural identity and make it a magnet for tourism enthusiasts.

 " The current administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq recognizes this and his unwavering support for cultural events like Gaani underscores our dedication," she added.

Highlight of the occasion was the turbaning of Alhaji Lukman Mustapha as the Baraden Okuta Emirate, who, in turn, pledged his unwavering supports to the community at all times.

The Commissioner's team also paid a visit to Nootia 90.7 FM Station in Okuta, Baruten Local Government, where she charged all staff to remain proactive and dedicated to duties, pledging government's continued support to the station.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed, charged the staff to ensure unwavering commitments to their duties, reiterating government's resolute commitment to cultural preservation and tourism promotion of Kwara State at large.

Those in the Commissioner's team were Permanent Secretary Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed, Director of Culture and Tourism Hajia Aishat Iyabo Buhari, General Manager, Kwara State Hospitality and Tourism Development Board, Mrs Bolaji Onietan and Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Aliu Jamiu.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
