KWSG SHOWCASES COMMITMENT TO CULTURAL PRESERVATION AT SHAO'S AWON MASS WEDDING FESTIVAL

In a resounding affirmation of its dedication to preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the state, the Kwara State Government has once again underscored its commitment to nurturing cultural diversity across the state's 16 Local Government Areas.

The grandeur of the Awon Mass Wedding Festival in Shao, Moro Local Government Area, this weekend served as the perfect backdrop for this affirmation. Hon. Bola Olukoju, the Commissioner for Communications, took to the stage to reiterate the government's dedication during this year's Shao Awon Mass Wedding.

In her Keynote Address at the 2023 edition of the Annual Awon Mass Wedding Festival, Hon. Olukoju expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support and dedication of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

She highlighted the transformative change in various local government areas, marking a stark departure from the past. "In a remarkable turn of events, various local government areas of the state are experiencing cultural transformation."

“This cultural resurgence has rekindled excitement and pride in our diverse cultural traditions, allowing us to showcase them proudly to the world,” she added.

Olukoju emphasized that "the Awon Festival not only celebrates our cultural diversity but equally strengthens our unity as a state. It is a testament to the rich tapestry of traditions that make up Kwara State, signifying our commitment to preserving our cultural heritage for generations to come."

Hon. Olukoju took the opportunity to extend congratulations to the recently enthroned Ohoro of Shao, His Royal Highness, Oba Dr. Obalowu Job Atolagbe, Ayantola IV, and the entire Shao community for the special day marking the 2023 Mass Wedding Ceremony for their daughters.

Elder Emmanuel Adebara, the President of Shao Community Development Association Worldwide, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner and other invited guests at the event, while also wishing them a safe journey back to their destinations.

The Awon Mass Wedding Festival was described as "an avenue to rekindle the spirit of togetherness in the community, a medium to enliven the spirit of prosperity."

The festival featured captivating highlights, including an acrobatic display, Iyemoja, a musical performance by a Fuji musician, Alhaji Besco Azeez Adisa, and a vibrant performance by the Kwara State Council for Arts & Culture Troupe.

The event was marked by the traditional presentation of monetary gifts to all the brides, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bola Olukoju.

Also at the event were the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, along with the representatives of Oloru/Ipaiye Constituency, Hon. Ayansola Saliu Lawal, and Eji/Lanwa Constituency, Hon. AbdulRaheem Medinat Motunrayo.

Notable figures within the Commissioner's team included the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed, Director Personnel, Finance and Supply, Hajia Yahaya Salamat Mohammed, and Director of Culture and Tourism, Hajia Aishat Iyabo Buhari, among other principal officers of the Ministry.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
