Global Hand Washing Day: KWGS urges Students and Residents On Proper Hand Washing

The Kwara State Government has enjoined students and residents on regular hand washing with soap and water to prevent all forms of infectious diseases.

The Kwara State First Lady, Amb. (Dr.) Olufolake AbdulRazaq, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs. Christiana Asonibare stated this at this year's Global Hand Washing Day Celebration, held at Government Secondary School, Ilorin.

The theme of this year's celebration, 'Clean hands are within Reach', was organized by the Kwara State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA).

The First Lady disclosed that the State Government, under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is handling the health of Kwarans with all seriousness and this is evident in the way he has been repositioning the health; water; and other key critical sectors in the state.

Dr. AbdulRazaq explained further that clean hands save lives and best defence against viruses, bacteria, and germs, stressing that proper and regular hand washing promotes good hygiene.

She emphasized that it is the responsibility of everyone to practice proper and regular hand washing to enhance healthy living and be free from all kinds of diseases.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner for Environment, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa Usman, who was represented by the Director Of Environment, Mr. Abayomi Idowu advised students to practice self hygiene at all times in addition to regular hand washing.

The Commissioner advised that the Global Hand Washing and Cleaning of the Environment should also be imbibed by parents and everyone in the state.

Sharing her own view, the Commissioner for Health,  Dr. (Mrs.) Aminat Ahmed El-Imam, who was also represented by Dr. Fatima Lah commended the organizers and charged the students to always ensure that they practice self-hygiene even when nobody is monitoring them.

The State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi encouraged the students to join intellectual clubs in their various schools. 

Among the Schools that participated in proper hand washing competition for this year was Ilorin Grammar School that came first, Government Secondary School Ilorin, second position and Community Secondary School, Ganmo, took the third position and received various awards.

Oladipo Adewumi said it was heartwarming to join the entire world in the commemoration of 'Hand Washing Day'.

Adewumi advised that the year 2023 Global Hand Washing Day Celebration requires that everyone be involved in creating awareness and advocate hand washing with soap as an easy, effective and affordable way to prevent diseases, especially among children and other vulnerable groups.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
