Commissioner Charges Press Secretaries to explore Social Media

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju has charged Press Secretaries on postings to Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the State (MDAs) to explore the use of social media for prompt information dissemination of government activities and programmes, even as she stressed the need for realistic communications work plan for yearly activties.

The Commissioner gave the charge yesterday during a meeting with Press Secretaries at the Ministry's Conference room, located at GRA, Ilorin.

She stressed that putting in place good communication work plans and calendars would help them perform their duties effectively and enhance the needed publicity and visibilities for their MDAs.

Hon.Olukoju who explained that the communication plans would serve as working documents for them, charged Press Secretaries to leverage on technology to make their jobs easier by working smart instead of working hard to get big results, reiterating the need for timeliness in news reportage, to avoid staleness.

"The news reports must be submitted promptly for proper editing and corrections. Ensure you utilize funds allocated for publicity in the budgets of various MDAs, to effectively inform the public of this administration's landmark achievements, in all the sectors." She added.

Olukoju also harped on the need to create social media handles, for the dissemination of government activities in their various MDAs.
 
The Commissioner specially appreciated the outstanding Press Secretaries which include those of the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abdulganiyu Yusuf, Tertiary Education, Monsurat Kannike and the FADAMA Communication Officer, Dr Sangodare Ayinla, among others, urging them to put in their best and network among themselves, for greater productivity. 

Appreciating the Commissioner for her efforts at changing the narratives of the Ministry positively, the Director of Information Services, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Atere, reiterated the need for Press Secretaries to be hardworking and focused, calling on Chief Executive and Principal Officers of various MDAs to always involve Press Secretaries from the planning stage to the execution of government programmes and policies to ensure effective information dissemination.

He also charged Press Secretaries to make themselves indispensable at their duty posts by performing their statutory responsibilities diligently.

In his contribution, the Deputy Director of information Services, Mr Agboola Olarewaju urged for the provision of necessary working tools for Press Secretaries with a charge that the Officers should inturn strife hard to always write credible news stories at all times, to complement government policies, programmes and policies.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024.
