Towoju gave this commendation at the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) National Executive Council meeting in Ilorin, today.

‘Truth, accuracy, and objectivity are the cornerstones of journalism ethics. I implore all of you strong, resourceful, courageous, capable, industrious and inspiring women not to depart from these ethics.’

Towoju appreciated members of the Association for their enthusiasm, zeal and dedication to service; he charged them to continue to uphold the tenets of the profession.

‘Your profession serves as the fourth estate of the realm. Your association is a very powerful and important one, and we will continue to support you.’

While speaking about the successes of the AbdulRazaq-led government, Towoju cited the Kwara State Political Offices (Gender Composition) Law 2021, which mandates at least 35 percent women appointees into the State Executive Council (SEC) and other classes of political appointments in the State.

‘The Kwara SEC has more than 50% women cabinet members,’ he added.

Towoju also commended Governor AbdulRazaq for winning the United Nations-backed ‘HeForShe’ award in recognition of the Governor’s outstanding contributions to women’s empowerment and promotion of women’s rights and visibility.

He reassured the NAWOJ excos of the government’s support. He said, ‘The Kwara State Government, ably led by the exceptional Governor AbdulRazaq, will continue to partner with you. Women are at the heart of building any nation; when you build a woman, you build a nation.’
