KWSG to Train Procurement Officers in Tertiary Institutions

As part of its efforts to ensure transparency and excellence in public procurement, the Kwara State Government, through the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KW-PPA),is set to extend its training programmes on procurement processes to staff of the state-owned higher institutions.

Speaking at the office of the Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin, the General Manager, Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KW-PPA), QS Raheem Abdulbaki, noted that procurement matter is a very crucial one and requires the integrity of officers responsible for its processes.

Abdulbaki stated that the Agency is an independent body saddled with the responsibility of enlightening all public bodies, and the general public, in the state  on the need to  comply with the state procurement law.

He also mentioned that the Agency has successfully trained and is still training officers who are in charge of procurement processes across MDAs on all areas of procurement, hence, it is pertinent to extend the training to the state-owned tertiary institutions too in line with the provision under section 76 of the Kwara State Public Procurement Law 2018, as amended.
The Procurement boss, however, stated that the responsibility  of the Agency is limited essentially to procurement funded by Kwara state government, partnership with Federal government as well as internally generated funds.

He appreciated the Rector of the Institution for always reaching out to the Agency on procurement matters, while disclosing that the interest of the Rector is the reason why the training for state-owned higher institutions will be kicking off with the Kwara State Polytechnic.

In his response, the Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, appreciated the General Manager for his willingness to always give maximum guidance and support whenever the Agency is being approached on matters that have to do with procurement processes in a bid to avoid violation of the procurement law.

He disclosed that the development is a welcomed one, as the institution is ready to partake actively in the training, while also promising to continue to comply with all aspects of the State procurement law.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024.
