The Kwara State Government has re-echoed its readiness to rid the Local Government Councils of ghost workers in order to reduce the cost of governance, especially recurrent expenditure.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifudeen made the disclosure at Afon, during his ongoing projects monitoring exercise in Asa Local Government Council.

Arc. Saifuddeen said it was quite unfortunate that we have found ourselves where some acclaimed council workers have abandoned their work to take up other jobs else where while still drawing salaries and allowances from the Council coffers.

He implored the top echelon of the council to help the system by genuinely identifying the culprits in order to free-up the council scarce resources to accommodate other developmental projects.

The Commissioner reminded the staff that the present administration under Mall. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has restored the lost glory of council workers through prompt payment of full salaries, cash backing of promotions, payment of arrears, and most importantly the recently concluded consequential adjustments.

Speaking on projects inspection, Saifuddeen commended the council on the choice of projects embarked upon which can be attested to by the large turn out of people of the benefiting communities to show their appreciation.
At the construction site of  the ongoing new Budo Egba Health Centre, the commissioner commended the council boss for the prompt relocation of the health centre to accommodate the commencement of the newly established Federal Neuro-Pshychiatric Hospital in the State by the Federal Government.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Asa Local Government, Abdulganiyu Saad disclosed that all the projects embarked upon by the council emanated from the communities based on their priorities.

Saad implored other communities with similar requests to be patient as the council would soon attend to them as soon as funds were available. 

The TIC Chairman enumerated some of the projects embarked upon to include complete renovation of Elebue Health Centre, ongoing Construction of a new Health Centre at Budo Egba, Construction of Adere Bridge along Alapako road, and Drilling of Boreholes across the three districts of the council, among others.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
