Gov AbdulRazaq Begins Assessment Tours to Large Rice/Maize Farms in Edu, Patigi, Kaiama, others

• Communities, farmers laud govt’s interventions, support Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Saturday did extensive tour of rice plantations in communities in Edu and Patigi local government areas of the state to assess the impacts of seedlings, fertilisers, and other inputs they recently received from the state government.  The Governor was represented on the tour by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Toyosi Thomas-Adebayo, who was accompanied by Director of Personnel Finance and Supply in the Ministry Mayaki Babadzuko Ma’adu. In a bid to ensure a clean and healthy environments across the state, Kwara State Government has sought for the collaboration of the 22 Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Olufemi Williams, for the sustenance of a cleaner Kwara. Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Friday inaugurated the consequential adjustment committee on minimum wage, charging members to look at all the variables and design an agreement that caters for the interest of the workers, other segments of the society, and considers issues of development. The committee members were inaugurated at the council chambers of the Government House, attended by top government officials, labour leaders, and representatives of the organised private sector in the state. “The setting up of this committee sets out the process for the implementation of the national minimum wage in Kwara State. Minimum wage: Kwara Names Committee for Consequential Adjustment

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the constitution of a tripartite committee to work out the consequential adjustment component for other categories of workers.  This comes as a new national minimum wage has been pegged at N70,000, triggering a need for consequential adjustments for senior cadres of workers in the state.  The committee comprises representatives from the state government, the labour centres, and the organised private sector.  The tripartite committee is chaired by the Head of Service and co-chaired by the Commissioner for Finance, while the Director (Establishment and Pension) is the Secretary.  Other members are the Commissioners for Budget & Planning, Works and Transports, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Communications; Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor; Permanent Secretaries (Finance, Service Welfare, Justice); and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters.  Apart fr...

Court Restricts August Protest to Ilorin Metropolitan Square

A Kwara State Court has ordered organisers of the August 1 protest in Kwara State to restrict themselves to the Metropolitan Square in Ilorin, the state capital. Granting an exparte order on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, the court said it agreed with the Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice Bar. Senior Ibrahim Sulyman that such a protest could degenerate into violence if protesters are allowed to do as they wish.
