KWSPHCDA, eHealth Africa Strengthen Partnership on Data-Driven Primary Healthcare Delivery

The Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with development and technical partners to enhance data-driven planning, implementation and monitoring of primary healthcare interventions across the state.

The Executive Secretary, Prof. Nusirat Elelu stated this today when the eHealth Africa team, paid a courtesy visit to her office today in Ilorin.

The Executive Secretary noted that the contributions of partners through technical expertise, innovation, data management and programme support have continued to complement the efforts of the state government in strengthening the primary healthcare system.

She emphasised the importance of reliable and timely data in healthcare planning and decision-making, noting that the effective use of data enables the Agency to better identify gaps, target interventions and monitor progress across the state’s 16 Local Government Areas.

Prof. Elelu therefore expressed the Agency’s readiness to sustain and deepen its collaboration with eHealth Africa, particularly in leveraging technology and data to improve planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of public health interventions.

Earlier, the eHealth Africa team led by the Programme Manager, Disease Prevention and Monitoring, Mr. Abubakar Shehu presented the organisation’s Geo-Spatial Tracking System (GTS) project and highlighted the progress and achievements recorded since 2024 in supporting the state’s Polio Eradication Programme and settlement validation activities.

The team, comprising the Programme Manager, Disease Prevention and Monitoring, Mr. Abubakar Shehu; GTS Project Manager, Mrs. Nnenna Ohiera; and Associate Manager, Field Operations, Mr. Friday Daniel, also sought the state’s approval for the deployment of a State Coordinator, Data Analyst and sixteen LGA Coordinators.

According to the team, the proposed personnel would provide continuous technical and operational support to the state across public health programmes, while strengthening data generation, analysis, planning, implementation, monitoring and evidence-based decision-making at the state and local government levels.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for both organisations to review the existing collaboration, strengthen their working relationship and explore additional areas of partnership towards supporting public health interventions and advancing quality primary healthcare services across Kwara State.

Kwara, WHO Develop Costed Health Promotion Strategic Framework

The Kwara State Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has commenced a three-day workshop to develop the State Health Promotion Strategic Framework Costed Implementation Plan aimed at strengthening health promotion interventions and improving public health outcomes across the state. Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus.
