Olukoju Assures Auctioneers of Govt’s Support, Promises Certification Reform

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, has assured the Nigeria Association of Auctioneers of the state government’s continued support and collaboration towards strengthening the auctioneering profession in the state.

Hon. Olukoju gave the assurance when the executive members of the association paid her a courtesy visit to her in Ilorin, where discussions centred on improving the practice of auctioneering and ensuring greater professionalism within the sector.

The Commissioner said the state government is willing to work with the association to reposition the process of obtaining auctioneer certificates, with a view to ensuring only qualified and duly recognized persons are permitted to practice the profession.

She noted that strengthening the certification process would promote professionalism, protect the integrity of the profession, and provide greater confidence to members of the public who engage the services of auctioneers.

The Commissioner also noted that, particularly in view of the prevailing security situation in the country, there is a need to strengthen the verification of persons operating as auctioneers to ensure that only duly recognised and qualified practitioners are authorised to carry out auctioneering activities. 

Hon. Olukoju further assured that the government is open to constructive engagements and partnerships that contribute to the growth and regulation of professional bodies in the state.

Earlier, the President of the Nigeria Association of Auctioneers, Kwara State Chapter, Mr Abdulwahab  Adeshina Esq. appreciated the state government for its support and expressed the association’s readiness to collaborate with the government towards repositioning the profession and improving its practice in Kwara State.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday from her office along Fate Road, Ilorin. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. The statement, enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise as there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the period of the exercise. The Commissioner further stated that waste management trucks will be made available for waste collection and subsequent disposal at government approved dump sites, adding that security agents and environmental officers have been detailed to apprehend offenders and move them to the nearest mobile court for prosecution.
