‎KWSG Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Development, National Service‎

‎The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development, empowerment, and nation-building, while assuring members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of continued support throughout their service year.

‎Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq stated this on Friday at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members during their orientation course in Kwara State, where the Chief Judge of the state who was represented by Justice B Lawal read them the oath of allegiance.
‎
‎The Governor, who was represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, urged the corps members to take full advantage of the opportunities provided during the orientation programme and throughout their service year to acquire new skills, build character, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
‎
‎He assured the corps members of the State Government’s continued support for the NYSC scheme, while encouraging them to uphold the values of discipline, patriotism, integrity, and responsible conduct throughout their stay in the state.
‎
‎Governor AbdulRazaq also commended the management of the NYSC for its commitment to moulding young graduates into responsible and productive citizens. He encouraged the corps members to participate actively in skill acquisition programmes, community development initiatives, and other activities aimed at preparing them for leadership, self-reliance, and meaningful contributions to society.
‎
‎Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, represented by the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply in the Ministry, Hajia Okanla Kuburat Atinuke, had welcomed the corps members to Kwara State and urged them to participate actively in all activities designed to enhance their personal development and overall well-being during the orientation course and throughout their service year.

‎The Commissioner congratulated the corps members on their academic achievements and described Kwara State as a land of peace, opportunities, and harmony.
‎
‎According to him, corps members should use the service year as an opportunity to acquire practical skills, explore entrepreneurship, leverage digital platforms for visibility, and position themselves to create opportunities rather than wait solely for employment.
‎
‎He further reminded the corps members that the 21-day orientation course was designed to instil discipline, patriotism, teamwork, leadership qualities, and other values that would guide them throughout their service year and beyond.
‎
‎The Commissioner assured the corps members of the State Government’s commitment to their welfare and security, pledging continued collaboration with security agencies and host communities to provide a safe and conducive environment for their service.
‎
‎Also speaking, the Kwara State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Musa Kafarda, admonished the corps members to embrace discipline, capacity building, and personal development throughout the 21-day orientation course.
‎
‎Addressing the corps members at the orientation camp, he described the programme as a critical period designed to test, shape, and prepare them for the next 12 months of national service.
‎
‎Mr. Kafarda disclosed that a total of 2,205 corps members, comprising 1,065 males and 1,140 females, were ready to take the Oath of Allegiance, stressing that the oath represents a solemn commitment to serving the Nigerian people.
‎
‎He explained that the orientation course was structured to transform young graduates into responsible nation-builders through paramilitary drills, lectures, leadership activities, skill acquisition programmes, and other camp engagements.
‎
‎The State Coordinator urged the corps members to build meaningful relationships, participate actively in community development initiatives, and conduct themselves responsibly at all times.
‎
‎He reminded them that, as corps members, they represent their families, educational institutions, the NYSC, and the nation, both within and outside the orientation camp.
‎
‎Present at the ceremony were the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abduljimoh Mohammed; heads of security agencies; members of the NYSC State Governing Board; heads of religious organisations; officials of the Ministry of Youth Development; NYSC officials; and members of the press.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday from her office along Fate Road, Ilorin. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. The statement, enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise as there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the period of the exercise. The Commissioner further stated that waste management trucks will be made available for waste collection and subsequent disposal at government approved dump sites, adding that security agents and environmental officers have been detailed to apprehend offenders and move them to the nearest mobile court for prosecution.
