KWSG Reaffirms Commitment to Business Growth, Investment and Ease of Doing Business

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, attract investments and stimulate economic growth across the state.

The Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, stated this at the 56th Annual General Meeting of the Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA), held at KWACCIMA House, Afon Junction, Ganmo. 

The Commissioner who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Industry in the Ministry, Hajia Raliat Bola Salahudeen commended KWACCIMA for its longstanding contributions to the development of the state's business community, noting that businesses had demonstrated resilience, innovation and adaptability despite global economic uncertainties, supply chain disruptions, subsidy removal and foreign exchange challenges. 

She said the Ministry remained committed to improving the Ease of Doing Business, supporting existing enterprises, attracting new investments and fostering innovation. She added that the administration of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, is prioritising infrastructural development, including roads, technology, healthcare, education, power supply and digital connectivity, to provide the necessary foundation for sustainable economic growth.
Hon. Damilola further highlighted the present administration's investments in projects such as the Ilorin Innovation Hub, Sugar Film Factory Studio, Garment Factory and agro-processing facilities, including the Shea Nut/Shea Butter projects, as evidence of the administration's commitment to industrialisation, job creation and youth empowerment.

The Commissioner also listed other government interventions designed to ease business operations, including the digitalisation of land acquisition and streamlined processing of Certificates of Occupancy through the Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), as well as improved services by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS). 

She then invited members of the business community to take advantage of government opportunities, including the ongoing free CAC/SMEDAN registration, Artificial Intelligence initiatives and facilities at the Ilorin Innovation Hub and Sugar Film Factory Studio. 

Hon. Damilola also called for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector, stressing that sustained partnership with the business community remained essential to building a prosperous, competitive and investment-friendly Kwara State.

Speaking at the opening session of the event, the President and Chairman of the Council of the Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA), Engr. Abu Salami, FNSE, FNIMechE, CEng, reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening the organised private sector and promoting sustainable economic growth in Kwara State.

He further stated that the AGM provided an important platform to review the Chamber’s activities, assess achievements and challenges, and chart a progressive course for the future of businesses in the state.

Engr. Salami said that despite prevailing economic challenges, KWACCIMA remained steadfast in advocating policies that promote investment, improve the ease of doing business and create an enabling environment for enterprises to thrive. 

He highlighted the Chamber’s strategic engagements with government institutions, corporate organisations, development partners and international business communities, noting that its collaboration with the Indonesian Trade Promotion Centre and the successful Indonesia Business Forum in Ilorin had created new opportunities for trade and investment. 

He also commended the Kwara State Government under the leadership of the Executive Governor and Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, Mallam AbdullRahman AbdulRasaq, CON, and the collective efforts of members and partners in strengthening membership participation, business networking, investment promotion and enterprise development.

The KWACCIMA President further disclosed that the Chamber Is preparing for the forthcoming 13th Kwara Trade Fair, which he said would provide another platform to showcase the state’s economic and investment potential while creating opportunities for businesses to expand. 

He expressed the Chamber’s determination to reposition KWACCIMA as a leading Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria through innovation, strategic partnerships, institutional reforms and improved services to members. 

The AGM, he said, would further strengthen the unity and effectiveness of the Chamber as a leading voice for the private sector and a key partner in the economic development of Kwara State and Nigeria.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus.
