KWSG Commends Peaceful Conduct of 2026 Common Entrance Examination

The Kwara State Government has commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the 2026 Common Entrance/Placement Examination into Junior Secondary School One held across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state on Saturday.

The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, gave the commendation while monitoring the exercise at Offa Grammar School, Offa; Government Secondary School, Offa; and Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin.

Dr. Olohungbebe attributed the hitch-free conduct of the examination to the prompt release of funds by the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, saying the state government's support ensured a seamless and well coordinated exercise.

According to him, "The exercise was peaceful, orderly and one of the best we have had in recent times. I commend the pupils, invigilators and all officials for their commitment.”

The Commissioner reaffirmed the state government's commitment to inclusive and quality education, stressing that no child should be left behind.

He urged parents and guardians to enrol their children in public schools, assuring them that the AbdulRazaq-led administration would sustain investments in accessible and affordable education.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, advised candidates to remain focused and be worthy ambassadors of their schools, families and the state, while commending teachers and examination officials for their commitment to the successful conduct of the exercise.

Also speaking, the Director of Curriculum and Assessment, Alhaji Suleiman Ajape Salami, described the examination as successful, noting that materials arrived at the centres on time and the exercise commenced as scheduled.

An examination officer at Offa Grammar School, Mr. Babatunde, attributed the smooth conduct of the exercise to the introduction of candidates' photo cards and their early distribution, expressing that the innovation simplified identification and reduced delays at examination centres.

He called for greater awareness among private school proprietors and parents on the need for early registration, adding that timely enrolment would minimise delays during candidates' screening and further improve future examinations.

Some parents expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination, timely distribution of materials, prompt commencement and absence of examination malpractice.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, directors and other senior officials of the Ministry, alongside officials of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), monitored the exercise at Saint Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin; Cherubim and Seraphim College, Ilorin; Government Secondary School, Ilorin; Government Day Secondary School, Tanke; and Sango Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday from her office along Fate Road, Ilorin. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. The statement, enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise as there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the period of the exercise.
