KWFRC Inspects Ongoing, Completed Projects in Ekiti Local Government

The Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Commission (KWFRC) has conducted an inspection of ongoing and newly completed projects in Ekiti Local Government Area as part of its statutory responsibility to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources.

The inspection team, led by the Chairman of the Commission, Barr. Abubakar Othman, alongside other members of the Commission, visited project sites across the Council to assess the quality of execution, verify the completion of previously inspected projects, and evaluate newly initiated projects.

Speaking during the inspection, Barr. Othman explained that the Commission is mandated to monitor the judicious use of public funds across Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Local Government Councils in the State. 

He noted that the Commission would continue its first and second-quarter monitoring visits to ensure that ongoing projects are completed as scheduled while also verifying the execution of new projects undertaken by the Councils.

The Chairman of Ekiti Local Government Council, Hon. Awelewa Olawale Gabriel, who welcomed the team, pledged the Council's full cooperation in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities. 

He reaffirmed the Council's commitment to implementing projects that would improve the welfare and living standards of the people.

Also speaking, the Commission Member representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Alhaji Abdul Gana Lukpada, commended the Council Chairman for prioritising people-oriented projects and encouraged him to sustain the momentum by initiating more developmental projects for the benefit of residents.

Projects inspected by the Commission included the renovation and remodelling of the Health Department, Registry Department, and Pharmacy Office at the Local Government Secretariat; repair and reticulation of motorised boreholes at Isolo-Opin and other political wards; overhauling of the Council's grader machine; supply of essential drugs; and procurement of office furniture for the Secretariat.

Other projects inspected were the construction of a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) office with drainage and culverts at Epe-Opin, grading of the Obbo-Aiyegunle–Etan–Koro–Egbe road, procurement and installation of a generator for the Legislative House, repair and installation of transformers at Isolo-Opin and Epe-Opin, and grading of the KWASU Road from Osi to Isare.

The Commission also inspected the grading of the Osi–Odo-Abe road, construction of a bridge with culverts, renovation and upgrading of the Primary Health Centre at Obbo-Aiyegunle, installation of solar-powered street lights within the Secretariat, the ongoing construction of a bridge at Koro, and the drilling and reticulation of a borehole at the Secretariat, among other developmental projects.

The inspection exercise forms part of the Commission's continuous efforts to strengthen fiscal responsibility, promote accountability, and ensure that government resources are effectively utilised for the benefit of the people of Kwara State.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. The statement, enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise as there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the period of the exercise.
