KWFRC Commends Oyun Local Government for Outstanding Project Delivery

The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Commission (KWFRC), Barr. Abubakar Othman, has commended the Chairman of Oyun Local Government, Hon. Akanbi Olanrewaju Kamar, for the remarkable execution of developmental projects across the Council.

Barr. Othman gave the commendation during the Commission's monitoring and inspection visit to Oyun Local Government, where he praised the Council Chairman for his commitment to improving the welfare of residents through impactful projects that have benefited several communities.

He noted that the quality and spread of the projects reflected prudent management of public resources and demonstrated the Council's commitment to transparency, accountability, and grassroots development.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Oyun Local Government, Hon. Akanbi Olanrewaju Kamar, described the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as a visionary leader whose developmental strides across the 16 Local Government Areas continue to inspire Local Government Councils to deliver meaningful projects that positively impact the lives of the people.

Hon. Kamar appreciated the Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Commission for its oversight role in promoting fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability in the management of public funds. 

He assured the Commission of the Council's continued commitment to executing projects that would further enhance the socio-economic development of Oyun Local Government.

Also speaking during the inspection, the Commission member representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Hon. Mrs. Olufunke Oyedun, expressed satisfaction with the level of diligence and commitment demonstrated by the Council. She commended Hon. Kamar for his outstanding performance and prudent use of public resources.

Projects inspected by the Commission included the construction of drainage culverts at Igosun Township; the repair and overhaul of grader machines at the Council Secretariat; rehabilitation of a borehole at Ajoko-Oja; repair and installation of a new engine for a Toyota vehicle at the Secretariat; supply of office furniture; casting and laying of interlocking pavement within the Secretariat premises; construction and installation of seven gates at Erin-Ile Market; and rehabilitation of the Health Centre at Inaja Alaro Aho.

Other projects included the complete renovation of a block of three classrooms with four offices at Adinimodo LGEA Primary School; construction of a polling park at Erin-Ile; construction of a perimeter fence at the Legislative Chamber in Ilemona and the Cottage Hospital at Ira; remeasurement of additional renovation components at Adinimodo LGEA Primary School; renovation of the SUBEB Office in Ilemona; supply and installation of solar power at the Oni-Gbonna Palace in Ilemona; complete renovation of a block of two classrooms with an office at Ayekale Primary School in Ipee Ward; renovation of the Ibolo Area Court in Erin-Ile; supply and installation of a 300KVA transformer at Ijagbo Community; and rehabilitation of 60 kilometres of earth roads across the eleven wards of the Local Government, among other developmental projects.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday from her office along Fate Road, Ilorin. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. The statement, enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise as there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the period of the exercise. The Commissioner further stated that waste management trucks will be made available for waste collection and subsequent disposal at government approved dump sites, adding that security agents and environmental officers have been detailed to apprehend offenders and move them to the nearest mobile court for prosecution.
