KWASUTH Dietitian Bags Prestigious IDN Fellowship

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department of the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) has recorded another professional milestone with the conferment of the prestigious Fellowship Award of the Institute for Dietetics in Nigeria (IDN) on Dtn. Onifade Bashir Abiodun, RDN.

The fellowship was conferred on Dtn. Onifade on Monday at the Lt. Gen. T. A. Lagbaja Multipurpose Hall, Army Barracks, Minna, Niger State.

The distinguished honour recognises his dedication, professional excellence, hard work, commitment, and valuable contributions to the growth of the Institute and the Dietetics profession in Nigeria.

The Fellowship also represents recognition of Dtn. Onifade's commitment to advancing the practice and development of Dietetics and nutrition care.

Dietitians play a vital role in promoting healthy living, preventing nutrition-related diseases, and supporting the management of conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, malnutrition, kidney disease, and obesity through evidence-based nutrition care.

The recognition therefore underscores the importance of professional Dietetics in improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery.

The management and entire staff of KWASUTH, under the leadership of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Bola Ahmed Abdulkadir, congratulated Dtn. Onifade Bashir Abiodun on the professional distinction.

The management described the achievement as a source of pride to the hospital and the Nutrition and Dietetics Department.

Dr. Abdulkadir wished him greater accomplishments and continued excellence in his service to humanity.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday from her office along Fate Road, Ilorin. Professor Elelu explained that the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) is a targeted vaccination intervention conducted between major immunization campaign rounds to vaccinate children missed during previous exercises and strengthen immunity in high-risk communities. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. The statement, enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise as there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the period of the exercise. The Commissioner further stated that waste management trucks will be made available for waste collection and subsequent disposal at government approved dump sites, adding that security agents and environmental officers have been detailed to apprehend offenders and move them to the nearest mobile court for prosecution.
