KWASUTH CMD Assures KWSAD of Improved Healthcare Services for Deaf Persons

The Chief Medical Director of the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH), Dr. Bola Ahmed Abdulkadir, has assured the Kwara State Association of the Deaf (KWSAD) of the hospital's commitment to improving healthcare services for persons with hearing impairment.

Dr. Abdulkadir gave the assurance on Wednesday when he received the KWSAD delegation, led by its Chairman, Comr. Hassan Ridwan, during a courtesy visit to the hospital.

The CMD welcomed the delegation and appreciated their confidence in KWASUTH. He assured them that their requests would be carefully considered and that the hospital would engage the appropriate government authorities on matters requiring government intervention.


Dr. Abdulkadir emphasised that effective communication is essential for accurate diagnosis, treatment and quality healthcare delivery, assuring the association of the hospital's commitment to improving services for persons with hearing impairment.


Earlier, the Chairman of KWSAD, Comr. Hassan Ridwan, appealed to the management of KWASUTH to strengthen healthcare services for deaf persons.


The Chairman called for the provision of sign language interpreters and effective communication during consultations and treatment.


The association also requested employment opportunities for its qualified members, greater cooperation between KWSAD and KWASUTH, and the prioritisation of accessible healthcare services for deaf persons, with a view to making KWASUTH a model for inclusive healthcare delivery among government hospitals in Nigeria.


The visit culminated in the presentation of an Award of Appreciation to the CMD in recognition of KWASUTH's contributions to effective healthcare delivery in Kwara State.

The Kwara State Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has commenced a three-day workshop to develop the State Health Promotion Strategic Framework Costed Implementation Plan aimed at strengthening health promotion interventions and improving public health outcomes across the state. Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday from her office along Fate Road, Ilorin.
