Kwara Strengthens Quality of Care for Women, Children Through RNMCAH TWG

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving quality of healthcare services for women and children through stronger collaboration, evidence-based interventions and sustained quality improvement across health facilities.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, represented by the State SWAP Desk Officer, Dr Ola Ahmed, stated this at the 2nd Quarter Meeting of the Kwara State Reproductive, Newborn, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (RNMCAH) Quality of Care Technical Working Group, held recently at the Ministry Headquarters, Ilorin.

Dr El-Imam said the state had made progress in strengthening quality of care, emphasizing the need to translate validated data and evidence into practical actions that would improve service delivery and health outcomes.

She urged members of the Technical Working Group to critically review available data, identify service delivery gaps and develop actionable strategies to address identified challenges across health facilities.

The Commissioner further emphasized the importance of teamwork among government institutions, technical teams and development partners, maintaining that sustained collaboration and accountability remained key to achieving better outcomes for mothers, newborns, children and adolescents.

She appreciated the contributions of partners and stakeholders to the state’s health sector and called for continued technical support and coordinated action to strengthen quality of care.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer, Development Governance International Consult, Dr Gafar Alawode, urged stakeholders to translate the recommendations of the meeting into measurable actions, stressing that every stakeholder had a role to play in improving the health and wellbeing of women and children in the state.

Also speaking, the State RNMCAH Coordinator, Dr Kofo Ibrahim, said the meeting provided an opportunity to review progress, examine data, identify gaps and agree on strategies to accelerate quality improvement interventions.

She informed that the meeting brought together relevant stakeholders and development partners to strengthen coordination and ensure that ongoing interventions translate into improved quality of care and better health outcomes for the people of Kwara State.

The 2nd Quarter meeting was attended by representatives of all stakeholders across MDAs, Development Partners , Civil and Professional Organizations.

Kwara, WHO Develop Costed Health Promotion Strategic Framework

The Kwara State Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has commenced a three-day workshop to develop the State Health Promotion Strategic Framework Costed Implementation Plan aimed at strengthening health promotion interventions and improving public health outcomes across the state. Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus.
