Kwara Restores Pharmacist Internship Accreditation, Sends off Pioneer Batch

The Kwara State Hospital Management Board (KW-HMB) has sent forth its pioneer batch of Pharmacist Interns following the restoration of the state’s pharmacist internship accreditation after more than 20 years.

The development marks a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen pharmaceutical services and develop a skilled healthcare workforce in Kwara State.

Speaking at a send-forth ceremony organised in honour of the interns on Friday, the Executive Secretary of the Hospital Management Board, Dr AbdulRaheem Malik, appreciated the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his support and commitment to investment in healthcare development.

Dr Malik said the successful completion of the internship programme reflected the state government’s commitment to improving pharmaceutical services and strengthening the capacity of healthcare professionals across the state.

In his welcome address, the Director of Pharmacy, Hospital Management Board, Pharm. Mustapha Jimoh, commended the interns for their dedication and commitment throughout the programme.

Jimoh urged them to uphold the values and standards acquired during their training and to serve as good ambassadors of the Hospital Management Board wherever their professional careers take them.

Also speaking, the Director of Pharmacy, Ministry of Health, Pharm. Gbadamosi Taofiq, thanked God for the successful completion of the programme and charged the interns to put the knowledge and experience acquired during their training to diligent use.

Gbadamosi described the interns as pioneers who had made history by becoming the first batch of pharmacist interns trained by the Board following the restoration of the state’s pharmacist internship accreditation after more than two decades.

Responding on behalf of the interns, the Chief Intern, Pharm. Mashood Lawal, expressed appreciation to the management and staff of the Hospital Management Board for providing a conducive learning environment, mentorship and practical exposure throughout the internship.

He said the experience had contributed significantly to their professional development and prepared them for the next phase of their careers.

The ceremony climaxed with the presentation of certificates of completion to the interns by the Chairman of the Kwara State Civil Service Commission, Hajia Habeeba Yusuf, who wished them success in their respective career paths.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday from her office along Fate Road, Ilorin. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. The statement, enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise as there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the period of the exercise. The Commissioner further stated that waste management trucks will be made available for waste collection and subsequent disposal at government approved dump sites, adding that security agents and environmental officers have been detailed to apprehend offenders and move them to the nearest mobile court for prosecution.
