KWARA PUBLIC PROCUREMENT AGENCY, GM/CEO WIN PRESTIGIOUS AFRICA SUPPLY CHAIN AWARDS

The Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KWPPA) has recorded another milestone, winning two prestigious honours at the 8th Africa Supply Chain summit held in Lagos on July 28 and 29, 2026.

The Agency received the Award of Excellence in Public Procurement Compliance, of the year 2026, while its General Manager/Chief Executive Officer, QS. Raheem AbdulBaki, was honoured with the 
Africa Top 50 Procurement and Supply Chain Leaders Award for his outstanding leadership and contributions to advancing public procurement practice.

The awards reflect the success of the reforms introduced by the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose commitment to transparency, accountability, due process, and good governance has transformed public procurement in Kwara State. 

The recognition also highlights the strategic leadership of QS. AbdulBaki in strengthening institutional capacity, promoting compliance with procurement laws, and positioning the Agency as a model of excellence in Nigeria and across Africa.

Reacting to the awards, the General Manager dedicated the honours to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support and enabling leadership, as well as to the entire staff of the Agency for their dedication and professionalism.

He described the recognition as a collective achievement and urged the staff to remain committed to excellence.

"These awards belong to every member of staff whose dedication, discipline, teamwork, and professionalism have continued to strengthen the Agency. Let this recognition inspire us to raise the bar even higher as we continue to make the Agency and Kwara State proud," he said.

Established six years ago, the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency has continued to earn recognition within and beyond Nigeria for its commitment to transparency, accountability, and global best practices in public procurement. 

The latest honours further affirm the impact of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration's governance reforms and the Agency's growing reputation as one of Africa's emerging public procurement institutions.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday from her office along Fate Road, Ilorin. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. The statement, enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise as there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the period of the exercise. The Commissioner further stated that waste management trucks will be made available for waste collection and subsequent disposal at government approved dump sites, adding that security agents and environmental officers have been detailed to apprehend offenders and move them to the nearest mobile court for prosecution.
