Kwara-HMB Welcomes Approval of Enhanced Entry Point for Nursing Officers

The Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB) has welcomed the approval and adoption by the Kwara State Government of the enhanced entry point for the Nursing Officer Cadre in the State Civil Service.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr Abdulraheem Malik, welcomed the development in his office today while reacting to the approval by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, in line with the resolution of the National Council on Establishments (NCE) to raise the entry grade level for qualified Nursing Officers from Salary Grade Level 09 to Grade Level 10.

Dr Malik described the approval as a significant milestone for the nursing profession and the healthcare system in Kwara State, noting that it appropriately recognises the academic and professional requirements associated with the Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) qualification, including the mandatory internship, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

“This approval is a significant step towards recognising the academic and professional demands of the nursing profession. It will strengthen our ability to attract and retain qualified nurses, improve staff motivation, address critical manpower gaps, and ultimately enhance healthcare delivery across our hospitals,” Dr Malik said.

He commended His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his sustained investment in the health sector and his commitment to the welfare and professional development of healthcare workers in the State.

According to him, the policy further demonstrates the administration’s commitment to building a motivated and sustainable healthcare workforce while making Kwara State an attractive destination for skilled health professionals.

He added that the enhanced entry point would further support efforts to strengthen the nursing workforce and ensure that qualified professionals are appropriately recognised for their education, training, and professional responsibilities.

Dr Malik assured the people of Kwara State of the Board’s continued commitment to supporting policies that promote staff welfare, strengthen the healthcare workforce, and improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare delivery across the State.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge. The statement, enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise as there will be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the period of the exercise.
