‎Kwara Govt Urges Youths to Become Job Creators, Not Seekers‎

‎The Kwara State Government has urged young people across the state to embrace entrepreneurship, acquire relevant skills and strive to become job creators rather than remain dependent on limited employment opportunities.

‎The Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, made the call while speaking on a government accountability program, The Platform, aired on Midland FM, Ilorin.
‎
‎The Commissioner encouraged youths to take advantage of available opportunities to learn skills, develop their talents and explore entrepreneurial ventures capable of making them self-reliant and productive members of society.
‎
‎He also reflected on the recently concluded 2026 International Youth Day celebration in the state, noting that the government remained committed to ensuring that young people are meaningfully engaged and provided with opportunities to contribute positively to the development of the state.
‎
‎According to him, the proper engagement of youths has continued to make them useful to themselves and their communities, stressing that the Ministry has been working closely with relevant stakeholders, development partners and parents to ensure that young people are guided in the right direction.
‎
‎The Commissioner further highlighted the importance of voluntary youth organisations in youth development, noting that Community-Based Organisations and faith-based organisations, among others, play significant roles in mentoring young people, building their character and directing their energy towards productive activities.
‎
‎The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, for his unwavering commitment to youth development and his continued support for programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the lives and prospects of young people across the state. 
‎
‎Speaking on youth-friendly initiatives of the state government, the Commissioner listed several programmes and projects designed to provide young people with opportunities for personal development, employment and skills acquisition.
‎
‎He cited the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ilorin Stadium as well as the construction of new stadiums in Lafiagi and Offa, describing the projects as investments that would provide young people with platforms to engage in sports and other productive activities.
‎
‎Amb. Ndanusa also highlighted the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), explaining that the initiative provides young graduates with the opportunity to work with start-ups and other organisations for one year, earn an income and gain valuable work experience.
‎
‎He noted that such practical exposure would improve the employability of beneficiaries and better position them for sustainable career opportunities.
‎
‎The Commissioner noted that the Ministry has maintained productive partnerships with agencies and institutions such as the National Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI), Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Bank of Agriculture (BOA), to support youth development and agribusiness initiatives.
‎
‎On agriculture, the Commissioner encouraged youths to look beyond traditional farming and explore opportunities in agribusiness and value addition.
‎
‎He explained that young people could participate in various aspects of the agricultural value chain, including processing, packaging, marketing, logistics and other support services, without necessarily having to cultivate the land themselves.
‎
‎He urged youths to take responsibility for their future by acquiring relevant skills, embracing entrepreneurship and making productive use of the opportunities provided by the government and its partners.

Kwara, WHO Develop Costed Health Promotion Strategic Framework

The Kwara State Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has commenced a three-day workshop to develop the State Health Promotion Strategic Framework Costed Implementation Plan aimed at strengthening health promotion interventions and improving public health outcomes across the state. Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday from her office along Fate Road, Ilorin.
