Governor AbdulRazaq Applauded for Free Medical Outreach in Irepodun LGA

Residents of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have expressed  gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the ongoing free medical outreach across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state, describing the initiative as a timely intervention for people facing difficulties accessing healthcare.

The medical outreach for the Local Government took place at the Cottage Hospital Ajase - Ipo, attracted both olds and young ones yearning for medical healthcare in the Local Government Area.

The outreach, organised by the Kwara State Ministry of Health and held on Tuesday, attracted thousands residents who benefited from free medical consultations and other healthcare services

Beneficiaries received medical consultations, eye examinations, prescription drugs, reading glasses and other services. Medical personnel also provided education on preventive healthcare and healthy living.

Speaking after receiving treatment, a beneficiary, Mrs Akanbi Rasheedat whose child underwent hernia surgery, said the intervention came at a time when she could barely afford her child's medication.

“I am very grateful to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for providing healthcare for us at this time. Words are not enough to express my appreciation,” she said.

Mrs Akanbi, explained that her child had been experiencing chest discomfort and coughing,, adding that the child received medication

Similarly, an elderly woman, Khadijat Adisa, whose cataract surgery was performed during the outreach, conveyed her delight at the provision of free medical services. 

Overwhelmed with joy, she couldn't help but shed tears of gratitude, offering continuous prayers for the governor who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to prioritizing the wellbeing of his constituents.

Mrs Adisa described the outreach as a significant intervention, noting that beneficiaries were able to access services that would otherwise have cost them substantial amounts at hospitals and clinics.

She said she was examined, surgery was carried out and she was given a pair of glasses, expressing appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the medical personnel for the intervention.

A Community leader, Chief Adewale Adekanbi, also commended the initiative, saying it had provided relief, particularly for elderly residents who could not afford medical treatment.

“Our people are happy with this programme. If we continue to have this kind of programme, it will save a lot of people, especially the elderly ones,” he said.

 The  state Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed  El-Imam,  had in her remarks, said the  initiative, a brainchild of the Kwara State government led by Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, aimed at providing free medical treatment and surgical interventions.

Represented by the Director Medical Services  and Training of the Ministry, Dr Musilihu Odunaiya, explained that the statewide program is strategically designed to address the healthcare needs of Kwara indigents, focusing on ailments such as cataract, Hydroceletomy, lipoma, and other conditions necessitating minor surgery. 

He further informed that the surgeries are performed without charge, accompanied by the administration of medication for common ailments.

The Chairman Irepodun Local Government, Hon Yakub Azeez represented by the Director Personnel Management, Prince Suleiman Babatunde expressed the Local Government’s appreciation to the Governor for bringing healthcare services to the people at the grassroots. 

He also urged Kwarans to utilize the kind gesture of the Government to have access to quality healthcare

Kwara, WHO Develop Costed Health Promotion Strategic Framework

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus.
