KWACReSAL Holds Site Inspection, Pre-Bid Meeting for Eruda Stormwater Management, Land Reclamation Project

The Kwara State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL) Project has taken another significant step towards addressing erosion and flooding challenges in the Ilorin metropolis with the inspection of the Eruda gully erosion site and a pre-bid meeting with prospective contractors.

The State Project Coordinator of the KWACReSAL Project, Alhaji Shamsideen Olatunbosun Aregbe, on Monday led the project team on a joint site inspection of the Eruda gully erosion site alongside the bidders.

The inspection enabled the contractors to assess the existing conditions and gain firsthand knowledge of the scope of the proposed stormwater management and land reclamation intervention.

Following the site visit, the team proceeded to the KWACReSAL State Project Management Unit (SPMU) Office, where a pre-bidding meeting was held to provide further technical and procurement clarifications ahead of the formal bidding process.

Speaking during the meeting, Alhaji Aregbe said the pre-bid meeting formed a vital part of the procurement process, providing contractors with the opportunity to seek clarification on the project requirements after inspecting the site.

He explained that the intervention is aimed at providing a lasting solution to the devastating effects of erosion and uncontrolled stormwater runoff in the Eruda community, thereby safeguarding lives, properties and critical infrastructure.
The State Project Coordinator disclosed that the project involves the construction of approximately 7.1 kilometres of drainage channels, with interventions across 20 drainage crossing points. 

According to him, the scope of work includes the removal of 13 existing deteriorated structures and the construction of six new structures, amounting to 19 major structural interventions within the project corridor.

Alhaji Aregbe stressed that the assignment has an implementation period of 18 months, urging prospective contractors to carefully study the bidding documents, fully understand the technical specifications and submit responsive bids that meet the project's quality standards.

He reaffirmed KWACReSAL's commitment to transparency, fairness and due process throughout the procurement exercise, noting that only competent and qualified contractors capable of delivering durable and high-quality infrastructure would be considered.

Earlier, the Project Engineer, Hussein Abubakar, provided participants with detailed technical explanations on the engineering designs and project specifications. 

He highlighted critical aspects of the drainage alignment, structural components and construction expectations, advising contractors to familiarise themselves thoroughly with the project site and strictly adhere to the approved technical requirements.

Also speaking, the Procurement Officer, Mr. Olumide Dada, explained the bidding procedures and procurement guidelines, emphasising that the exercise would strictly comply with the World Bank Procurement Regulations and all applicable procurement requirements. 

He encouraged bidders to ensure that their submissions are complete, accurate and submitted within the stipulated timeframe.

Kwara State Government to begin In-Between Round Immunization Activity in 1,014 Settlements

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with development partners, will commence the In-Between Round Immunization Activity (IBRA) across 1,014 settlements in 128 wards of the state from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, as part of efforts to close immunity gaps and interrupt the transmission of poliovirus. Kwara Monthly Sanitation Holds Saturday, July 25th

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 across the state, between the hours of seven o' clock and ten o' clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.  This announcement was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge.
