...Launches climate-health working group   The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitments to climate-resilient health systems, even as it inaugurated a multi-sectoral Technical Working Group (TWG), with the aim of domesticating Nigeria’s Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP). The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, performed the inauguration ceremony yesterday, at the premises of the Ministry, Fate, in Ilorin, the State Capital. KWSG Warns Against Degrading Public Infrastructure

The Kwara State Government has warned members of the public against degrading and defacing of roads and other public infrastructure for billboards and advertisements under whatever disguise, otherwise, there will be consequences. This warning was contained in a statement released from the office of the Ag General Manager, Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA), Mr 'Toba Adeyeye arpa, in Ilorin, the state capital today. This statement was issued consequent upon the rate of damage done to the newly constructed road median across the metropolis. It therefore stressed the need for all and sundry to either strictly adhere to the Agency's guidelines or face appropriate sanctions, according to the dictates of the law. The Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development in Kwara State, Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi, has called on Nigerian universities to adopt agriculture-driven strategies for economic growth, financial sustainability and institutional resilience. Dr. Abolore made this call while speaking virtually at the Public Lecture Series organized by the Kwara State  University (KWASU), Malete today.  In his presentation, the Commissioner stressed the need for institutions to move beyond overreliance on government subventions. He identified agriculture, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure optimization as key avenues for generating income and building students capacity. The State Steering Committee (SSC) for the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL) has held another routine meeting to deliberate on important activities of the project in the first and second quarters of the year to shape strategies for the following quarter. Presiding over the meeting that took place at the conference room of the Ministry of Environment in Ilorin, the  Commissioner for Environment who doubles as Chairman of the State Steering Committee for ACReSAL, Hajiah Nafisat Musa-Buge, acknowledged that progress is being made in the Project, citing a number of activities that have taken place over the past months. The Chairman, however, called for concerted efforts by the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) to accelerate implementation of key programmes, especially land restoration and reclamation. The State Steering Committee (SSC)  for the Kwara State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has held its biannual meeting at the L-PRES State Coordination Office in Ilorin with a call to all world bank assisted projects coordinators in the State to work in synergy for smooth and effective implementation. The meeting is part of their statutory oversight functions to the L-PRES project at the State level. While speaking at the meeting, the SSC members noted that there are areas of similarity among the developmental projects, and stressed the need to work together with a view to achieving the present administration's vision for a resilient and sustainable Agro-Climatic and Livestock sector in the State. KWSG Approves Promotion Exercise for Staffers of KWWC Due for 2023 Promotion

The Kwara State Government has approved the promotion exercise for the staffers of the State Water Corporation (KWWC), saying that the interview will commence on Tuesday, 17th June, 2025 and end on Wednesday, 18th June, 2025. The General Manager, Kwara State Water Corporation, Mr. Gana Makun, who gave the hint in his office, stated that the staff, who are due for the year 2023 promotion, are the ones qualified to attend the interview exercise. Mr. Makun added that the exercise will hold at the conference room of the State Water Corporation, situated at 1, Sulu Gambari Road,  Opposite Kwara State Library Complex, Ilorin at 9 am prompt each day. Commissioner commends NASSCO for Being Proactive on Data Population

The State Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Mary Arinde has commended the proactivess of the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO), in populating the social register of the poor and vulnerable people in the state. The Commissioner gave the commendation yesterday when she visited the management team of NASCCO, at its GRA Office in Ilorin, the state capital. She expressed satisfaction with the activities of the agency, on the collation of data of the poor, noting that the populated register would assist the state government tremendously in its planning efforts for the less privileged, in the state. The exercise is fully sponsored by the Kwara State Government to promote free and inclusive education. According to a statement from the Ministry, the registration will run from Wednesday, June 11 to Monday, June 23, 2025.
