Court Restricts August Protest to Ilorin Metropolitan Square

A Kwara State Court has ordered organisers of the August 1 protest in Kwara State to restrict themselves to the Metropolitan Square in Ilorin, the state capital. Granting an exparte order on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, the court said it agreed with the Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice Bar. Senior Ibrahim Sulyman that such a protest could degenerate into violence if protesters are allowed to do as they wish. Abdulrazaq spoke at the government-enabled Kwara Youth Farm in Malete, Moro local government, where at least 1,500 hectares of land are being cultivated for soya bean production this farming season, while over 1,500 hectares more are to be farmed in the coming seasons. KWSG REINTRODUCES SUBSIDIZED TRANSPORT PALLIATIVE PROGRAMME

The Kwara State Government has again reintroduced the subsidized transport palliative programme to cushion the effect of the Federal government's fuel subsidy removal through the State owned Soludero buses. The Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, disclosed this yesterday while speaking at Soludero park, Post Office, Ilorin, where the Soludero buses are to be used for the new transport palliative programme.  The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Mary Kemi Adeoshun,  added that this programme will drastically reduce road transportation fares along notable routes within Ilorin metropolis, for all categories  of students, workers and the public.
