Thunderstorms Expected in Kwara: Farmers Urged to Prepare as Planting Season Begins

The Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development wishes to inform farmers that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a series of thunderstorms across parts of Kwara State from Tuesday through Thursday, especially during afternoon and evening hours. Farmers are advised to take necessary precautions, as strong winds may precede the rains. Activities in open fields should be limited during periods of lightning, and electrical appliances should be disconnected when not in use. Caution is also advised around trees and unstable structures during heavy downpours. KWSG PROVIDES FREE DELIVERY KITS TO PREGNANT WOMEN IN 193 PRIMARY HEALTH CARE FACILITIES

As part of efforts to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality in Kwara State, the State Government has provided free delivery kits for pregnant women in 193 Primary Health Care Facilities, restating its commitment to the provision of quality and affordable health care service delivery across the State irrespective of geographical locations. The Kwara State Government has again reiterated commitments to childcare and protection in the state, warning it will not take lightly issues inimical to the protection and safeguard the welfare of Kwara children. The state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Afolashade Justina Oluwakemi Opeyemi made stated this in Ilorin today, during the inauguration of the State Technical Working Groups on Alternative Care for Children in Kwara State, at the conference room of the ministry. NBAIS Seeks State Government Recognition for Senior Arabic and Islamic Secondary School Certificate Examination SAISSCE.

The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) Zone 5,  Kwara State has sought for Government support through provision of more funds for the State Arabic Education Board and Scholarships for Arabic and Islamic Studies Students in the State. This was made known today at the office of the  Kwara State Head of Service during a courtesy visit to the Office by the Head of Quality Assurance of the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies, Zone 5, Mallam Saleem Sulaiman Jamiu. Kwara State Government Adopts Multi-prong Approach to Tackle Security Challenges

The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to addressing emerging security challenges through a comprehensive and multi-pronged approaches to curb the menace.  This was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Mamman Saba Jibril while welcoming participants of the Senior Course 47 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, who are currently on a study tour of Kwara State. Prof. Saba noted that while Kwara has long been regarded as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, it is not immune to the growing security threats affecting some parts of the country. KWSG Reaffrmes Commitments to Infrastructural Development, Global Integration.

Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitments to opening more communities for development and positioning the state for greater global impact through strategic infrastructural investments. The Honorable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, gave this assurance on Wednesday, while presenting the Ministry’s scorecard at the Q1 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing, held at the Conference Room of the Finance Ministry, in Ilorin, the state capital. According to the Commissioner, 46 projects were ongoing as at the last quarter of 2024, out of which 33 have been fully completed, with 11 projects currently ongoing into the new quarter, adding that 24 new road projects have been awarded in year 2025 alone, with 6 of them already completed.
