Sanitation Exercise Holds on Saturday

The monthly sanitation exercise will come up on Saturday, 25th May, 2024 being the last Saturday of the month, commencing from seven to nine o'clock in the morning (7:00 - 9:00 a m.) This month's exercise will be a modified one, therefore members of the public should note that, both vehicular and human movements is allowed across the state, due to the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) organised by National Examinations Council (NECO) as well as Teacher's promotion exercise. Not withstanding, residents of the State are enjoined to fully participate in the exercise, by cleaning both residential and business environments.   As usual, Waste Management trucks would be available for waste collections and subsequent disposal of same, at the dump site and illegal dump sites in some of the major areas within the metropolis, will be cleared. KWSG Takes Campaign Against Drug Abuse to Schools

The Kwara State Drug Control Committee has commenced mass mobilization and campaign to sensitize students on the dangers of drugs abuse in the society. The Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-lmam who disclosed this today at the sensitization programme for the students and staff of the Government Secondary School, Ilorin on the effects of drugs abuse in the Society, called on them to shun all forms of drugs abuse. The Kwara State Director of pharmaceutical services, Pharmacist Barakat Olarewaju who represented the Commissioner for health highlighted the effects of drugs abuse which include untimely deaths and mental disorders and urged the students to desist from taking any hard drug which could destroy their lives. Alhaji Al-Imam Ismaila Asukuti The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency ( KWASAA) today received the new General Manager of the Agency, Alhaji Al-Imam Ismaila Asukuti. The new General Manager who thanked the Governor of kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for giving him the opportunity to serve the state as the General Manager of the Agency, sought for mutual understanding and cooperation between members of staff and the management to foster the growth and development of the Agency. Road Setbacks: KWSG Continues Removal of Illegal Structures

  The Kwara State Government has again reiterated its commitment to the reclamation of all government setbacks in line with the directives of the Federal Government to enhance the aesthetics and serenity of the State. The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Geographic Information Service, ESV Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman made the disclosure during the ongoing reclamation of government road setbacks at Zulu Gambari Road in Ilorin, the State Capital. The Executive Chairman who spoke through the Acting Director of Physical Planning and Development Control of the Agency, TPL. KWSG Assures Citizens of Proper Investigations on Alleged Unprofessionalism at Cottage Hospital, Illofa

The Kwara State Government has taken a firm stance against any form of misconduct and unprofessionalism amongst health workers in the state, insisting on sanctions against erring health workers. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-lmam made the assertion while speaking with the media on pressing issues in the health sector as she addressed the recent incident of alleged  misconduct among some health workers at Illofa.  It would be recalled that a few medical staff of the Iloffa Cottage Hospital have been accused of alleged unprofessionalism in the controversy over an improperly handled placenta, which has caused some concerns at the Iloffa Community. Kwara’s Inaugural Hajj flight now Tuesday May 21

The inaugural flight from General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport Ilorin for the 2024 Muslim pilgrimage will now be on Tuesday May 21. Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board said in a statement on Sunday that the change in the date is from NAHCON/airlines  owing to some delays in the initial plans. Pilgrims from Kwara had initially been scheduled to have their first flight on Monday May 20, 2024. “What this change means is that our pilgrims should not come to the camp today again as earlier announced. They should come tomorrow, Monday 20, ahead of their inaugural flight on Tuesday at 10:20am. This affects only the intending pilgrims whose names were earlier scheduled for the inaugural flight,” the statement said. “Further information will be released to guide all our pilgrims and the general public. KWSG CONDUCTS COMPETENCY TEST FOR OVER 190 SENIOR CIVIL SERVANTS

KWSG Steps up Enlightenment Campaign on Health

The Kwara State Government has stepped up its enlightenment and sensitization programme on health through a television show. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, made this known today during a media briefing at her office, along Fate Road, Ilorin. She disclosed that the purpose of the television programme titled "Health Gist," a live television show was aimed at sensitizing citizens on health-related issues and evaluating the health care service delivery in Kwara State. Dr. El-Imam urged Kwarans to always listen to the programme on "Radio Kwara Midland  99.1 fm" from 10:00 am to 10:30 am on Wednesdays and watch the television show on "Kwara Television" from 10:30 am to 11:30 am every Saturday.
