KWSG Commends MTN for Donating Learning Tablets to Public Schools

The Kwara State Government has commended MTN Nigeria for donating Lenovo learning tablets to selected secondary schools across the state's three senatorial districts; the donation, facilitated through the Office of Nigeria's Vice President, Kashim Shettima, aims to enhance digital education nationwide.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony held at Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin, on Friday, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, charged students and management of beneficiary schools to utilize the devices effectively. 

"These tablets are tools for transformation. I urge everyone involved to make judicious use of them to support the state's drive towards digital learning and global educational standards," the Commissioner said.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, appreciated the thoughtful gesture by MTN. 

"We thank MTN for considering our schools worthy of this initiative. It will greatly enhance both teaching and learning," she said.

In his remarks, MTN's Government Relations Officer, Mr. Andy Esun, explained that the donation is part of a national initiative to digitize education in secondary schools, championed by the Office of the Vice President. 

"We're committed to reaching every corner of the country to ensure no child is left behind," he said. 
Mr. Esun praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his steadfast commitment to education reform in Kwara State, describing the Governor's efforts as pivotal in bringing such impactful programmes to the state.

The eight beneficiary schools are: Government High School, Adeta; Oke-Ode Unity Secondary School, Oke-Ode; Patigi Secondary School, Patigi; Government Secondary School, Kaiama; Progressive Secondary School B, Ilorin; Government Secondary School, Omu-Aran; Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin; and Moje High School, Erinle.

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Tahueed Abubakar, represented by Honourable Permanent Member II of the Commission.
