Kwara Open to Collaboration Against Immoralities - Hajia Imam

The Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, has pledged support for individuals and organisations who are ready to partner with the state government in its fight against immoral behaviours in the society.

Hajia Imam made the pledge recently while receiving the Executives of the Association of Professional Counsellors in Nigeria (APROCON), who paid a courtesy visit to her office.

The Commissioner reiterated government's support and readiness to collaborate with professional organisations like APROCON and individuals of like minds in the fight against social vices, saying "the door of the Ministry is always open to partnership against social vices."

Hajia Imam thanked members of the Association for the visit, which she described as timely and appreciated their efforts in combating social vices.

Earlier, the Chairman, APROCON, Dr. Usman Abdulkareem, disclosed that the visit was part of its efforts to foster collaboration with the state government to curb moral decadence in the society.

The Chairman expressed the Association’s plan to explore areas of partnership with the Ministry in order to curb behaviours that are considered harmful within the society.

Dr. Abdulkareem noted that the Association's committment to public health and safety has necessitated the collaboration with governments, organisations and people of like minds to eradicate immoralities in the society and stressed that acts such as violence and substance abuse are major behaviours that are detrimental to the public, saying that APROCON is ready to join forces to devise strategies to combat them.

Dr. Abdulkareem appealed to the Ministry for support so as to discourage societal vices in order to prevent the proliferation of miscreants in the society.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Association, Dr. Ayuba Hammed, added that the Association is committed to making meaningful strides in combating bad behaviours in the society, towards creating healthier and safer communities for the public.

Dr. Hammed described the Association as a professional organisation committed to training and retraining of members for the betterment of the country, while encouraging officers of the Ministry to join the Association so as to realise the set goals of the Ministry.
