Kwara Govt Applauds LG Council Boss on Impactful Projects
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata has lauded the Ilorin West Local Government Boss for the impactful projects executed, with several benefiting communities trooping out in their numbers to express their appreciation to the Council.
It was a historic and memorable day as traditional rulers, community leaders and well wishers came out en masse to welcome the inspection team of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development to commission some of the newly executed projects by the Ilorin West Local Government Council, under the leadership of Hon. Shehu AbdulRahman Ladan on the second phase of project Interventions across the Council areas.
The projects executed by the Council, recently, included the construction of a block of two classrooms with an office at Magaji- Ngeri (Ago market), procurement and installation of 300 KVA and 500 KVA Transformer at Darul- Salam, Gerewu community and Mandate Housing Estate, Irewolede, construction of divisional office for the NSCDC, along Apalara and construction of two way box culvert with retain wall at Oke-Foma, opposite Al-Hikmah University Gate, Ilorin, among others.
The Commissioner who disclosed that so far he had only visited two Local Government Councils but was extremely elated seeing the joyous mood of the people, which has clearly demonstrated the impacts of such projects on them.
Hon. Bata further disclosed that all the projects he visited were all community based requests, constructed from the scratch and completed without any interference from the State government. He added that the Ministry was in no position to interfere with the Council funds but only perform it's cabinet function of monitoring and supervisory roles and ensuring due processes are followed in project executions. Adding that the Ministry is also obligated to know the extent of their compliance on procurement laws and ensure adherence to the principle of federal character of equal distribution of projects across Councils.
Earlier in his remarks, The Executive Chairman of Ilorin West, disclosed that all the recently executed projects were capital intensive but assured other communities of adequate government attention in due course.
Hon. Ladan, however, implored the beneficiaries of the projects to ensure proper protection against vandals,while assuring them of more intervention projects.
Speaking on the establishment and construction of the Community Primary School at Ago-Market, he thanked them for their patience because he was aware of the numerous efforts made by the Community to successive administrations and assured that necessary plans had been put in place to construct another sets of classrooms in the next phase of project interventions.
The event was graced by traditional rulers, religious and community leaders as well as market men and women.
The Commissioner was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Iyabo Modupe Adekeye; Director, Local Government Affairs, Mrs Akande Christina; Director, Community Development, Mallam Mustapha Abdulateef, among other top Officials of the Ministry.
